Rotary Club of Comox
      Meetings

Club in a Club worked for Comox Rotary.

Every once in awhile a good idea crosses your desk and you have to jump at it.

Having recently traveled to the land down under and attended a club meeting with only 7 members I was acutely aware of how easily membership can disappear.  I didn't want to see that happen to our club, which had dropped from a high of 65 a few years ago to 40.
Our five-member committee followed the Club in a Club rules but with our own personalization.

We started by getting a list of potential Rotarians.  It's so easy for members to jot down names of people they would like to see in the club.  Rotarians lead busy lives and there isn't always time to individually work on bringing in a new member so they appreciated contributing to the growth of our club through this project.

After the invitations went out, we phoned each of the prospective members to personally invite them to attend a meeting.  One letter ended up at the wrong address and the homeowner there was so impressed by it she wanted to be put on a list of potential members for the future.

We sent out 120 letters, 24 people attended and we immediately gained six new members.

Each of these new members has been assigned a mentor with a list of goals to achieve in the next six months.  The goals revolve around being more informed and involved in Rotary.

There is an added bonus.  We have very strong interest from seven more guests who attended our first meeting. We grew 15% from that one night and can make it over 30% if we are successful recruiting these seven.
